I need to file a lawsuit against my former partner in Sacramento. I’m short on funds and want to get a paralegal or someone to file these papers asap. The total amount owed is $25k.
Too small for a lawyer. Look up ParaLegal in the phone book.
Anchor: A year ago the Chinese regime backed down from forcing the installation of the controversial Green Dam internet filter software on every new computer in China. Now that project seems to be winding down even further, with the Chinese regime cutting funding to the software’s developers. This may affect the service for the small number of computers that do use the software in China.
Content:In 2009 the Chinese regime tried, unsuccessfully, to force all new computers sold in China to be pre-installed with the filtering software, Green Dam Youth Escort.
The regime claimed the software was to screen out pornographic and violent content from the Internet. Yet it is understood by many that Green Dam is just another extension of China’s so-called “Great Firewall,” screening out key words and dates sensitive to the regime.
After condemnation in China and abroad, and the creation of software for countering Green Dam, called Green Tsunami, the Chinese regime backed down.
They installed Green Dam only on computers in schools and internet cafes.
Now, a year later, the Chinese regime seems to be abandoning the project even further, by cutting funding to the two companies that developed the software, the Beijing Dazheng Human Language Technology Academy and the Jinhui Computer System Engineering Company.
The Beijing Times reported that the offices of Beijing Dazheng had closed down and were locked with a padlock. Yet the general manager of the company refuted the claims, telling state-run China Daily that the office had not closed and employees had not been dismissed.
In May 2009 the Chinese regime paid $6.2 million U.S. dollars to Dazheng and its co-developer for the rights to use Green Dam for one year, but neither company has received any funding since then.
Without state funding, customer services and updates for the Green Dam software are likely to become unavailable. The official website for the software hasn’t been updated for a year, and in the future free downloads may be unavailable too.
In addition, the Chinese regime is facing a $2.2 billion dollar lawsuit from U.S. based Cybersitter. The company which produces internet content filtering software for consumers claims the code they had written was copied into the Green Dam software, infringing on their copyright.

In 1993, Larry King had a guest on his show named David Reynard of Tampa, FL. During the show Mr. Reynard unleashed a bombshell that ignited one of the most shocking controversies in television history. He stated that he was filing a lawsuit against the cell phone companies and was alleging that his wife, Susan, had died from a brain tumor caused by repeated use of a cell phone. This allegation caused cellular stocks to quickly tumble.
Congressional inquiries were triggered and the cell phone industry scrambled to save its image. In an effort to reassure the public and the government the cell phone industry agreed to conduct long-term research studies to prove that cell phones were safe.
Following public hearings the Senate took issue with both the cell phone industry and with the Food and Drug Administration. The FDA was the agency of responsibility for granting approval of cell phones. To settle the allegations and bring proof to the issue the cell phone industry volunteered to conduct long-term research to prove cell phone safety. However, they offered to do so only if the FDA agreed not to regulate them until the research was completed. And so the process began.
As a first step, the cell phone industry hired appropriate medical and science researchers to conduct a study that was to become the largest of its kind ever conducted on cell phone safety. The cell phone industry funded this research project with $28.5 million of its own money.
The protocol required that every study conducted to be duplicated in at least two laboratories. Research protocols were peer reviewed before being initiated. Furthermore, preliminary data were peer reviewed before interpretation and final reports and data were peer reviewed at the conclusion of the process. Every effort was made to ensure the study was above reproach and that the results of the study were credible and not biased due to industry funding.

Back in 2005 I needed funds after surgery from the accident to pay my rent.I borrowed $1200 from lawcash. They now say that I borrowed $8,000.00 and with interest I owe them $56,000.00. They have not provided myself or my attorney with any contracts signed by myself .I am out of work and really need the money. My attorney will not give me any money because he says that they can make him liable for the loan. What are my rights and why,if they have not proved that any loan for $8,000.00 exists can I not get my money.I have tried contacting the loan company to no avail.I have no problem paying them the amount that I actually borrowed plus interest but they are not negotiable and my attorney has not heard back from them on any attempts to contact them. Why can’t he release at least some of my money to me and keep enough in the account to cover the $1200.00 loan.
Your lawyer should file suit against them to lift any claim to the money or prove the debt. If they do not respond to the court or cannot prove the debt, your attorney will release the money as the court will rule they do not have a claim to it.
Side note – when you borrowed the money, I would assume they provided you with a copy of the contract. If you have your copy with the original amount show it to the lawyer.
Second side note – what interest rate are they claiming? I didn’t do the detailed math but for those numbers to work, even at a base of $8,000 we are talking around 35% or more to get to those numbers. That may be tough for them to defend in court as well without proof of claim.
The case for bold might be that the fund bypasses the regular lawsuit process which is smart, proactive, bold and appropriate. Obama knows that compensation delayed results in needless sufferring that can never be repaired or made right. So the $20 Billion is a buffer fund that gets money (via Ken Feinberg) into the hands of sufferring victims real quick while they can still pick up their lives, their careers, or re-locate. It’s a bold practical solution that recognizes that big corporations are heartless bas*ards that will drag their feet and put the little guy through 10 years of litigation before paying out a dollar.
The case for timid is based on the idea that when all the bills come in, the liability for this huge oil spill will run about One Trillion Dollars, which far exceeds the net worth of BP. So, setting up a payout fund for 2% of that amount is really a sop to BP to create the illusion that their liability has been defined and contained. Business hates uncertainty. The truly bold move is not a 2% fund but rather putting BP into Federal Receivership, like a bank on the verge of failure, under the direction of a U.S. Magistrate, or Special Master, with broad discretion to manage the company, pay its liabilities and liquidate whatever assets are required as the bills come in and judgments are made against the company.
Plainly this is a rogue oil company. It’s accident record is among the highest in the business, way higher than Exxon, or Chevron. Tony Hayward is the poster boy for "don’t know, don’t care" the totally negligent, smug, cavalier, "now can I have my life back" sort of guy.
Taking over all BP assets that can be done by the US is a precaution to prevent this rogue company from paying them out to their executives as lavish retirement packages and golden parachutes. It also prevents bondholders from getting priority over victims. It also prevents dividends and special dividends that would put shareholders above victims.
Involuntary receivership based on anticipated liability was the bold thing to do, so the 2% fund of $20 Billion was actually quite timid, and probably something suggested by the company, to help itself, not a shakedown by Obama, or even a bold move by Obama.
But, how do you feel? Was this $20 Billion fund to be handed out by Ken Feinberg and bold idea or a timid idea?
20 Billion was George Soros’s idea, Coalition for American Progress funded by George Soros.
Obama has not had an original idea yet.
End deep water drilling for six months, George Soros
US Government to invest in PetroBra, George Soros
all that is needed for the company the George Soros invested 900 million dollars in (PetroBra) is some deep water drilling rigs…..from the Gulf of Mexico…convenient that they can’t drill in our waters anymore
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, Under Secretary for
Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Stuart Levey and National Incident Commander Admiral Thad Allen join Press Secretary Robert Gibbs to talk about the ongoing response to the BP Oil Spill and BP’s establishment of
a $20 billion escrow account to pay claims for damages. June 16, 2010.

Ford USA loses money every year.
Ford Europe MAKES MONEY EVERY YEAR!!!
That’s WITH stronger "socialist" Unions, WITH requirement to provide healthcare, With corporate and personal higher taxes, WITH 4 weeks vacation a year, WITH company/Govt provided retirement funds, WITH stronger pollution and environmental controls…
Stronger regulation and stronger Govt involvement SAVES COMPANIES BILLIONS OF DOLLARS A YEAR!
Ditto for them having almost non-existent lawsuits in Europe – LAWSUITS ARE A RESULT OF CAPITALISM! Not "socialism", haven’t you guys figured that out yet?
Simple, Europe subsidized large business and US taxes them. And the massive lawsuits are limited by law in Germany.

Peter Nowak visits Google’s Waterloo office to present his book “Sex, Bombs & Burgers”. This event took place on March 11, 2010, as part of the Authors@Google series.
The talk will focus on the main theme of the book, which is how the military, and food industries have been the biggest drivers of technology over the past century. The links between these three are not immediately clear, but they are all rooted in humanity’s basest instincts. In essence, my book is about how the worst parts of human vice have resulted in some truly incredible achievements.
Peter Nowak is the senior science and technology reporter for CBC News Online. He has been writing about technology for more than a decade and his work has appeared in many top newspapers in Canada and around the world, including The National Post, The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, The Boston Globe, The South China Morning Post, The Sydney Morning Herald and The New Zealand Herald.
