This has really been irritating me and I want to get it off my chest. At the place where I work, one of my co-workers was injured in an accident while test riding a new motorcycle. He’s disabled now and can’t work anymore. He got a large settlement from the person who hit him and is getting worker’s comp. What irritates me is that he then turned around and sued the business and the insurance company that insures the business! He’s gotten close to 2 million dollars.
Now, he and his wife has a small child with brain cancer. They are not using any of this money towards her. They are doing holistic medicine and doing fund raisers to get money for her. They have health insurance that would pay for it. They’ve also spent the money on adding on to their house, buying a studio for the wife’s photography business, and other unnecessary things. And now he wants to still be buddy-buddy with other workers here, even though his lawsuit has caused all of the insurance rates to go up. Is this wrong to be irritated or not? Thanks for reading through my rant.
@ Time to Think: Yes this is in the United States, but I hardly think that has anything to do with it. I wasn’t asking for your opinion of Americans, just an opinion in this matter, regardless of nationality. (and the guy is british, by the way.)
No not wrong. It’s the result of graduating more lawyers yearly than doctors. It’s also the result of dumb people like your former co-worker doing stupid things and wanting to blame someone else. Undoubtedly the next target will be the maker of the motorcycle for the idiot’s lousy riding ability.
